![]() The writing itself improves with each novel, and the series contains some of my favorite characters in fiction. Roberson has a skill in creating likable characters and convincing relationships between them. There are more complex and detailed fantasy worlds out there, but this one makes me quite nostalgic. The pages literally fly by - though this is the longest installment in the series. In Flight of the Raven Aidan, only child of Brennan and Aileen, is heir to the Lion Throne of Homana and inheritor of a prophecy carried down through the. Killon is not my favorite character of the series, but he is relatively sympathetic and Ginevra is definitely likable. Like so many of the other novels, it is fast-paced and quite thrilling. Killon’s - and Ginevra’s - story does make for a fulfilling conclusion though. Still, I will be keeping my fingers crossed that some day she will add perhaps Cynric’s story to the canon. But, it has been over twenty years since that note, so a return hardly seems likely. ![]() It is a bittersweet ending - all the more so since in the author’s note, Roberson hints that maybe some day she will return to writing about this land and these terrific characters. ![]() And so concludes the last volume of the Chronicles of the Cheysuli series. ![]()
